How to delete cpanel backups and Free up Disk Space

Removing old backups is a useful way to free up disk space on your TNP HOST web hosting.

If you have used the cPanel Backups tool or Backup Wizard to back up your TNP HOST account, the backup file will be stored on your TNP HOST disk space. Once you have downloaded the backup file to your computer we recommend deleting the backup file from your disk space.

You can delete your backup file using cPanel File Manager.

How-to delete backups from cPanel
Follow these steps to delete your backup file from your TNP HOST web hosting.

  1. Login to cPanel.
  2. Tap TNP HOST cPanel File Manager.
  3. Tap home from the left folder listing. E.g. (/home/username).
  4. Select your backup file. For example backup-4.18.2019_24-03-24_username.tar.gz.
  5. Tap Delete.
  6. Confirm the deletion by tapping Delete File(s).

It is very important to remove old backups from cpanel especially in case of accounts with low disk space,

Please note that you can also delete old cpanel backup using FTP client like Filezilla , pure FTP, WinSCP etc.

To do this, please log in to your FTP client and locate the file /home/username and delete the backup file.

It is very important to make sure you don’t delete any file other than backup file because the folder /home/username contains core file of cpanel.
